With flood warnings issued across the north of England this week, the publication of a new book on the subject is especially timely. I'm normally dubious of anything for which the word "psychogeography" is invoked, but Edward Platt's "The Great Flood: Travels Through a Sodden Landscape" looks fantastic.

Platt travelled around the UK in the aftermath of the winter 2013-2014 floods, and the book is a blend of travel writing and investigative journalism, focusing on how climate change may affect flooding in the UK. I haven't yet read it, but I've been thoroughly enjoying the Radio 4 adaptation: definitely worth a listen.
